-I grew up in New York and Florida most of my childhood. My Father is Puerto Rican and my Mother is mixed with Indian, black and Mexican. I am a middle child and have six sisters. I began to write songs when I was a teen since my father also wrote songs in spanish. I was also inspired by some of the young artists I saw in music videos or heard on the radio. In the beginning, I only wanted to write for other artists and not be an artist but I couldn’t find any artist to work with. Then, I found out the first song I ghost wrote was a hit for another artist. That’s when I decided to become more serious about it.
– used to love artists like Michael Jackson, 90’s Hip and R&B artists and Latin artists. Then, I became a self-taught artist. I read a lot of books about songwriting and took vocal lessons. If it is your passion you will do all it takes to make it happen. There is so much to do behind the scenes. It is very important for me to achieve stardom since I am very cultural and would love to have international fans.
– It is definitely challenging being a woman in the music industry and any rumors you hear about it are probably true. We just have to be careful and make sure everything is strictly business. Right now, the entertainment industry in the US seems to be more focused on the younger fans preference. To be honest, I don’t really like a lot of the new music since the lyrical content doesn’t really make me feel any type of emotion. I tell everyone that is one reason why I started writing songs. I just want to bring back real music again.
– I am usually open to working with other artists but very selective and want to make sure it is going to be worth the time and they have the same passion and work ethnic. I take my craft serious and love networking with other creative minds.
– I usually just make sure I take breaks and relax in nature and spend time with family or friends who are supportive. Sometimes it is hard when you are an entrepreneur but it is important to have a balance and take breaks to recharge. If not you will not have energy to stay focused. No matter what you do, it is very important to take care of your mind, body and soul.
-I am currently working on new songs that are in Spanish and some are bilingual. Right now I am also working on my other talent being a creative Fashion Designer (Retro Mami Fashion). I also plan on collaborating with other artists. I really enjoy making songs in Spanish so that some of my family can also listen and understand my music.
