Fernanda Sato

Fernanda Sato

-I am Fernanda Sato from Brazil: my biological father was born in Japan and my biological mother is a typical Brazilian mix between Portuguese and the native people from here. I was adopted as a baby by my father’s sister since I was 10 months-old. During my childhood, I used to sing in the classroom and then, during my teen years, I started to act on theater at an English school called Cultura Inglesa where I won an award as a teen actress. At that time I was (and still am) a Madonna fan. MTV also came to Brazil, and so I started to listen to rock bands like Nirvana, Sex Pistols, electronic music like The Prodigy and more underground styles like Psychedelic Trance at rave parties… As a teen my role models as singer and actress were Courtney Love, Keanu Reeves (because of “The Matrix”), and also I always liked classic Hollywood movies with stars like James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor and Marylin Monroe.
-I have a lot of ideas that I’d like to put in practice but unfortunately I couldn’t’ invest enough of my time on it due to problems of persecution. It’s really complicated… At this moment, in the globalization era, I think it would be awesome to work and communicate with people from all over the world! I dream about travelling and going to different places and see various cultures…
-To be honest, I think Brazil is a very sexist country, with too many chauvinists. I have some problems with invasion of privacy, so I don’t even feel safe to truly express myself. Another problem here besides the generalized corruption that there is an influence on the creative industry. Most people don’t even have a basic education, which reflects on the culture here where there are some popular types that I believe to be poor-spirited for the fact that they treat women in a way that I find disrespectful…

-I find myself a real opened minded person for many possibilities to work as an artist, and so I would love to have a lot of different experiences, only I have to beware of the approaches in here as I am in a vulnerable situation… I have some problems with Stalkers using my image without my permission but, on the other hand it seems like my life have turned into some kind of “reality gladiator show” and so it looks like I became a sort of influencer as a result (LOL), even though I find that kind of weird. This also encourages me to try to work with my niche, and  so I am just looking for a good opportunity …
-As a singer, I used to play cover songs (like a rock pop version of “Like a Virgin”). I am still  opened for the possibility  to put my ideas into lyrics that would express myself… The digital era has made the whole entertainment industry more democratic, like Justin Bieber who is a good example for me, because he conquered his audience and fame first and then  started a successful career. Social media made possible for all of us to communicate better and have a closer relationship between artists and fans which I find it great!
-What I’ d say to anyone else trying to work in this area is: Be yourself and find the people who like you for who you are… The globalization market era is a  great moment for us to celebrate our differences, and to be true, I personally think the entertainment products would be too boring if all artists looked the same, act the same, did the same thing etc… We should all embrace our uniqueness!
-I feel like I don’t have a private life since a long time ago, and a lot of people get obsessed with everything about my personal life, even with false rumors. But, on the other hand, I believe I may use it to work as an artist, with lots of emotion memories, light and dark, ups and downs, dramas, comedies, romance adventures and even horror LOL…
-Right now I have a new contract with an agency focused on modeling and advertising named Zott Models. As for my future, like I said, I am opened for all possibilities like finding a talent agent to work as an actress (outside of Brazil too), I am also available for modeling, singing and even a reality show. Who knows !
